TikTokers Approve Regular Glycolic Acid Toner
It’s hard to find affordable skincare products that actually deliver on their promise of leaving your skin looking smooth and glowing. But as usual, TikTok has a treasure trove of information on affordable skincare discoveries (that actually work). And one toner in particular has recently received a ton of hype for its lightening results.
“You’ve seen me talk about it before, it’s a game-changer,” exclaimed content creator @xoxoemira, holding up a bottle of The Ordinary’s 7% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner. In addition to exfoliating dead skin and clogging pores, glycolic acid “also acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture in the skin,” says dermatologist Sejal Shah, MD. Form. This makes it an ideal formula for complexions that are dry and sensitive to other AHAs. While this super ingredient is usually meant for the skin, TikTokers have discovered that this deep, penetrating exfoliator has multiple uses. (BTW: Shoppers say this celebrity-favorite sleeping mask makes them look “five years younger.”)

“You can use it on your scalp to reduce flakes, you can use it on your armpits to reduce odor, you can use it on hyperpigmentation, you can honestly just shower in it,” the TikTok creator @hasinikay in a video titled “hot girl products explained.” She also warns that, like most exfoliants, this formula can cause irritation when used daily. TikToker @phithegoldenskin claimed the toner helped “improve hair elasticity, restore broken bonds, soften hair and improve shine” after a month of use as a hair serum, and added that it was a “fantastic exfoliator” on her flaky scalp. @jadealycebod noted that it “really works like a deodorant” and has even helped lighten discolored underarm skin.
This hard-working toner goes way beyond a brighter complexion — and it’s only $10. Shop this glycolic acid serum at Ulta or Sephora.
